Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Functions in a customer-facing role, and therefore is expected to be approachable and service minded.
  • Maintains high network availability for redundancy and resilience.
  • Understands and accounts for peak load; manages peak load events.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational efficiency.
  • Optimizes, implements and monitors network performance.
  • Maintains and reacts to Enterprise-grade network monitoring system.
  • Assists in the deployment of network equipment for new office/community build outs.
  • Assists in the deployment of WAN circuits, including MPLS VPN's and P2P/IPsec circuits.
  • Supports the LAN and WLAN infrastructure for corporate and division offices as well as communities.
  • Manages the enterprise firewalls, administering the filters and rules for network access.
  • Helps with security audits of the network system and improves the security posture.
  • Manages the wireless infrastructure from implementation and optimization to daily operational support.
  • Tests disaster recovery setups, both on a global and site-by-site basis.
  • Supports and resolves SOX compliance regulations 
  • Experience in operations, influencing technology selection and projects
  • Accountable for using project lifecycle methodology including the creation of project plans, charters, budgetary estimates, and network documentation. Recommend and lead changes to project methodology as appropriate.
  • Lead project teams and coordinate other technical and PM resources to deliver solutions that follow best-practice standards.
  • Lead or participate in strategic planning process and assist with managing strategic vendor relations.
  • Lead team initiatives with other engineers for new technology introductions / deployments, and establishing standard architectures that align with best practice principles
  • Will function in a customer-facing role gathering requirements and working on strategic planning on an annual / quarterly basis and will present solutions / plans to senior management.
  • Work with business units to understand and gather requirements for projects and system enhancements.
  • Effectively translate business requirements into high-level design documentation. Estimate level of effort and document scope of implementation. Determine potential impact to data and systems resulting from projects, enhancements, and production support.  
  • Provide training materials and documentation for operations handoff and customer communications.
  • Support the operations team during the transition into production.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • The ability to work and team effectively with clients, management, and staff members in a multi-tiered, fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in previous architecture and implementation role highly recommended
  • Ability to translate technical recommendations into a visual format for presentation to non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of telephony concepts as they apply to networking
  • Expertise with SDWANCCDP or CCNP certification(s) required
  • CCIE a plus
  • Knowledge and expertise in Wireless LAN and Wireless WAN technologies, as well as with a variety of routers and switches.
  • Firm understanding of operating systems, virtualization, network services for cloud enablement, and security. 
  • Consistently able to solve connectivity problems to increase bandwidth, improve response times, maximize performance, and support global operations. 
  • Expertise in Cisco/Meraki
  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services specifically around Direct Connections.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience influencing technology selection and projects,
  • Minimum 8+ years proven experience in large global enterprise network environment performing a similar role
  • Extensive knowledge of IP fundamentals, IPv6 required
  • Must demonstrate in-depth understanding of the OSI model
  • Extensive knowledge in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of data center technologies.
  • Solid understanding of operating systems, virtualization, network services for cloud enablement, and security.
  • Extensive knowledge of networking across LAN and WAN interfaces and variety of routers and switches
  • Consistently able to solve connectivity problems to increase bandwidth, improve response times, maximize performance, and support global operations
  • Extensive skills in WAN related architectures and technologies important to enterprises, such as MPLS, IPSec and emerging technologies.
  • Capable of design, deploy, and implementation of scalable networks from data center through remote site configurations. Thorough knowledge of switching, AP’s and routing.
  • Capable of building and architecting robust WLAN networks for guest, untrusted and private connections.
  • Significant experience and / or certifications in Project Management (PMI) a plus
  • Travel may be required

Physical Requirements:

This is a position which requires the ability to frequently walk, stand and climb stairs in/around apartment homes, models and properties. Must also have the ability to operate computer. equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.

 

 Additional Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Some travel may be required for internal, conference, customer, partner and vendor meetings.
