Job Description

Overview

Assist in the day-to-day financial operational functions of the division, including financial analysis and reporting, corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and Sales and Closing administration.  Ensure Corporate/Region Accounting and Finance policies are followed.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare revenue and cost of sales transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures:
    • Record daily statistical reporting of starts, sales and closings
    • Coordinate with sales team to ensure all sales documents are completed timely and entered correctly into JD Edwards.
    • Audit and reconcile HUD closing statements to sales contracts
    • Assist in preparation and review of HUD statements as it relates to home closings and book revenue journal entries as necessary.
    • Record cash receipts entries
  • Manage expenses which includes:
    • Clear intercompany accounts weekly
    • Allocate inventory balances to started homes monthly
    • Reconcile Balance Sheet Binder Assets and Liabilities
  • Assist with/Manage Joint Ventures and Land Bank Deals.
  • Assist with monthly sales tax calculation and preparation.
  • Assist with the month-end close process accurately and timely in conjunction with corporate/region deadlines.
  • Calculate and process sales commissions and bonuses.
  • Prepare and process property accruals and tax payments.
  • Recording accrual, allocation, reclasses and other miscellaneous journal entries
  • Various projects assigned by Controller or Assistant Controller.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • 9 years related accounting and financial experience, homebuilding experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Business Degree
  • Intermediate computer skills experience required– Microsoft Word and Excel (Vlookup and Pivot);
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry office materials and supplies weighing twenty (25) pounds or less.  Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.  May be required to operate a motor vehicle.
