Job Description

Summary of Position Requirements

Responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of the balance sheet, homebuilding reporting and tracking, revenue recognition, and month-end reports.


•         Assists with month end close, including inventory and cost of sales items

•         Maintains sound accounting methods and systems in accordance with corporate policies and procedures

•         Prepare bank account and general ledger reconciliations

•         Explains gross margin variances compared to original  budgets for homes in backlog

•         Completes timely and accurate financial reporting to division and corporate offices

•         Ensures accuracy of monthly backlog profitability reports through analysis of job costs.

•         Assists in preparation accuracy of weekly reporting requirements

•         Assists in monthly revenue entries, various month-end accruals, re-class and allocation entries

•         Manage and prepare Balance Sheet Package

•         Responsible for writing and recording checks out of Manager’s Account as well as requesting replenishments

•         Run month end Corporate Reports and review for accuracy

•         Process new sale purchase agreements and reconcile revenue

•         Book cash receipts journal entries

•         Maintain accurate Homebuilding budgets as part of Backlog Process

•         Assist in various projects as needed


Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

•         High School Diploma or GED Required

•         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred

•         Minimum of three years general accounting experience required

•         Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel

•         JD Edwards and Hyperion experience preferred

•         Excellent attention to detail

Physical Requirements

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry materials and supplies weighing 25 lbs or less. Finger dexterity is necessary.

Additional Requirements

Ability to professionally perform multiple, detail-orientated tasks; good written, verbal and organizational skills; able to follow directions from a supervisor.
