Asset Manager – Software & Hardware (SAM/HAM)

The Asset Manager reports to the Director of Digital Workplace and serves as the primary owner of both Software Asset Management (SAM) and Hardware Asset Management (HAM) programs across the organization. This role is central to ensuring all software and hardware assets are accurately tracked, managed, and optimized through ServiceNow, while maintaining compliance, controlling costs, and fostering strong vendor and cross-functional relationships.
Your Responsibilities on the Team
Software & Hardware Asset Management
Own end-to-end lifecycle management of software and hardware assets using ServiceNow as the system of record
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of software licenses, hardware configurations, installations, and usage across the enterprise
Ensure software licenses are utilized effectively — reallocating, retiring, or procuring as business needs evolve
Track hardware assets from procurement through retirement, ensuring inventory accuracy and minimizing loss or waste
Maintain compliance with software licensing laws, vendor agreements, and internal policies
Strategy & Optimization
Develop, drive, and operationally execute the organization's SAM and HAM strategy
Identify and propose opportunities to optimize or reduce licensing and hardware costs
Lead SAM/HAM tool implementation efforts in ServiceNow
Build and continuously improve processes for software and hardware lifecycle management, demand planning, and procurement
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Serve as a key partner to the Vendor Management Office (VMO), supporting vendor oversight and cultivating strategic partnerships
Manage vendor relationships and ensure adherence to processes, policies, and contractual obligations
Lead or support sourcing and contract negotiation activities related to software and hardware
Act as the primary point of contact for software and hardware-related issues, escalations, and inquiries
Reporting & Collaboration
Develop meaningful metrics, dashboards, and ad-hoc reports to provide visibility into asset health, compliance posture, and cost performance
Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Legal, and business stakeholders to align asset management strategy with organizational goals
Provide guidance and technical support to employees on software and hardware standards, usage, and architecture
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, managing expectations both upward and downward
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or JD preferred
3+ years of SAM and/or HAM experience, including standing up or maturing an asset management program, preferably within an IT environment
Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITAM (IT Asset Management) or similar asset management platforms
Experience with data reporting and analysis to drive decision-making
Background in sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiations
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint and Word
A proactive, deadline-driven mindset with strong organizational discipline
Curiosity and willingness to understand the broader business, its strategy, and core processes
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This is primarily a sedentary office-based role. The incumbent must be able to operate computer equipment, communicate verbally, and occasionally bend, stoop, reach, and lift and carry items up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is required.
