We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer with expertise in integrating AI solutions to power mobile applications. This role will focus on building scalable backend systems, implementing AI-driven functionalities, and enabling seamless mobile interactions with cutting-edge machine learning models. Your Responsibilities on the Team 

1. Backend Development:

  • Design, build, and maintain robust backend systems to support AI-powered mobile applications.
  • Develop and expose APIs (RESTful and GraphQL) to integrate AI models and services with mobile apps.
  • Optimize backend infrastructure for low-latency, high-performance AI integrations.

2. AI Integration:

  • Work with data scientists and machine learning engineers to deploy AI models into production environments.
  • Design pipelines for real-time and batch inference of AI models in mobile applications.
  • Implement AI-driven features such as recommendation systems, natural language interfaces, and personalization engines.
  • Leverage LLMs and generative AI frameworks to power conversational interfaces, content creation, and enhanced user interactions.

3. Cloud & Infrastructure:

  • Use cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) to deploy scalable AI and backend services.
  • Implement serverless architectures or containerized deployments for efficient AI model serving.
  • Manage event-driven architectures and data pipelines to support AI-based workflows.

4. Performance and Reliability:

  • Optimize AI model inference for mobile applications, ensuring speed and responsiveness.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of backend services using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Conduct stress testing to ensure scalability and reliability under varying workloads.

5. Collaboration & Communication:

  • Partner with mobile engineers to design and integrate APIs tailored for AI-driven mobile features.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to ensure smooth data flow for training and inference.
  • Work with product managers and UX/UI designers to align AI capabilities with user needs and product goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on AI integration.
  • Proven experience deploying machine learning models into production environments.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in backend languages like Python, Node.js, Go, or Java.
  • Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Familiarity with LLMs and APIs like OpenAI, Hugging Face, or Anthropic.
  • Knowledge of API development (RESTful and GraphQL) and backend middleware frameworks.
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, or Azure ML) and serverless architectures.

AI & Data Skills:

  • Experience integrating real-time and batch inference pipelines.
  • Familiarity with data processing tools like Kafka, Spark, or AWS Lambda.
  • Knowledge of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate) for embedding-based AI tasks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for learning and implementing state-of-the-art AI technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AI-powered conversational interfaces or generative AI solutions.
  • Background in deploying LLMs for mobile-specific use cases like chatbots or personalized content.
  • Familiarity with edge AI deployment for on-device processing in mobile applications.

Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the incumbent to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
