We are seeking an accomplished Technical Lead to drive the backend and API development of our next-generation employee experience mobile application. This app will leverage generative AI to deliver personalized, intelligent features that enhance user engagement and productivity. The ideal candidate is a back-end expert with extensive experience in building scalable API-driven architectures, integrating AI models, and working collaboratively with both in-house teams and outsourced partners. As a leader in back-end and API design, you’ll architect and develop robust systems that power an intuitive mobile experience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end engineers, data scientists, and external partners, to bring cutting-edge AI-driven features to life. This role is ideal for a technical leader passionate about deploying advanced AI to create high-impact applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead back-end development for the employee experience mobile application, focusing on API architecture, server-side logic, and integration of generative AI.
  • Design and build scalable and secure APIs that enable AI-driven functionalities, ensuring seamless data flow and communication between systems.
  • Collaborate with in-house and outsourced development teams, overseeing the back-end codebase, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Work with data scientists, AI engineers, and product managers to define technical requirements, system architecture, and deployment strategies for AI models.
  • Implement generative AI capabilities (e.g., GPT-based models) in the back-end, enabling personalized and interactive features within the application.
  • Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance requirements are met, particularly with sensitive employee information.
  • Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, supporting reliable and automated deployment of APIs and AI models.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for outsourced teams on back-end/API-related development tasks, providing guidance on code quality, timelines, and technical standards.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and reliability of back-end services.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in API design, backend technologies, and AI, continually enhancing application functionality and efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in back-end development, with strong expertise in RESTful and GraphQL APIs, server-side languages (Node.js, Python, or Java), and microservices architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating generative AI models, such as OpenAI’s GPT, into production applications.
  • Proven track record of leading backend and API development for mobile applications, with hands-on experience in data management and scalable system design.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), with a focus on scalable API and backend solutions.
  • Strong background in data security and privacy standards, with experience implementing secure API integrations and data storage practices.
  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience managing outsourced teams and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on performance optimization and system reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced data platforms such as Palantir or similar for data integration and analytics.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch, specifically in deploying and scaling AI models.
  • Background in industries such as HR technology, employee engagement, or enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD automation, infrastructure as code (IaC), and logging/monitoring solutions. Personal Attributes:
  • Driven by a passion for leveraging AI to create impactful, user-friendly applications.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership-oriented, with a knack for mentoring teams and fostering an innovative and collaborative culture.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.
