The Cloud Platform Engineer II is responsible for designing, building, and supporting cloud platform capabilities that enable application teams to deploy secure, scalable, and standardized workloads. This role combines cloud engineering, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and software development skills to support the organization’s developer experience and cloud enablement strategy.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development using TypeScript, React, and Node.js. Experience building or extending developer portals such as Backstage, Spotify Portal, or similar platforms is a strong plus.

Your Responsibilities on the Team
Cloud Platform Engineering
Build, maintain, and support cloud platform services on AWS.
Design and implement reusable cloud patterns, templates, and automation for application teams.
Support core AWS services including EKS, IAM, Lambda, networking, compute, storage, and security-related services.
Assist with cloud account provisioning, account onboarding, and standardized cloud environment setup.
Contribute to secure and scalable application networking patterns for cloud-based workloads.
Partner with application teams to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, deployment, and runtime issues.
Infrastructure as Code
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools.
Build reusable IaC modules and templates that support standardized cloud deployments.
Follow IaC best practices including version control, code review, testing, and environment promotion.
Support automation for AWS account vending, baseline configuration, and cloud resource provisioning.
Software Development
Develop and maintain platform tooling using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
Build user-facing and backend capabilities that improve the developer experience.
Create integrations, plugins, APIs, or automation workflows for internal cloud platform tools.
Contribute to developer portal features, templates, and self-service capabilities.
CI/CD and DevOps
Build and support CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
Work with Git-based workflows and automation platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar tools.
Support deployment automation across multiple environments such as dev, QA, UAT, and production.
Help implement pipeline standards, approval flows, and deployment guardrails.
Collaboration and Support
Work closely with application development teams, DevOps, security, networking, architecture, and cloud operations teams.
Provide guidance on cloud platform usage, deployment patterns, and engineering standards.
Participate in support rotation or operational processes for cloud platform services.
Document platform patterns, processes, and technical standards.
Requirements
2 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role.
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
Knowledge of core AWS services including:
Amazon EKS
IAM
AWS Lambda
VPC/networking concepts
CloudWatch or similar observability services
Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as:
Terraform
AWS CloudFormation
Pulumi, CDK, or equivalent tools
Terraform experience preferred.
Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Git-based source control workflows.
Software development experience using:
TypeScript
React
Node.js
Ability to troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and application runtime issues.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GitHub Actions and GitHub-based development workflows.
Experience with GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD platforms.
Experience building or extending developer portals such as:
Backstage
Spotify Portal
Internal platform portals
Self-service engineering platforms
Experience creating software templates, scaffolding workflows, or developer self-service automation.
Experience with AWS account vending or multi-account cloud environment automation.
Experience with cloud-centric application networking, including:
VPCs
Private networking
Load balancers
DNS
TLS/certificates
EKS ingress patterns
Experience working with containerized workloads and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with cloud security, identity, access management, and least-privilege design.
Experience supporting enterprise cloud governance, landing zones, or platform engineering initiatives.
