About the Role
As a Payroll Advisor, you’ll operate at the intersection of payroll operations, HRIS technology (Workday), and AI automation. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor while also helping modernize how payroll is delivered, leveraging Workday Payroll capabilities, system configurations, and AI-powered tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and the associate experience.

What You’ll Do
Serve as a payroll SME and advisor, supporting employees and leaders on payroll, tax, and compliance inquiries
Execute and audit payroll processing with a focus on accuracy, controls, and data integrity
Analyze payroll data using Workday Payroll reports, calculated fields, and dashboards to identify discrepancies and trends
Troubleshoot issues within Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and integrations (e.g., benefits, tax engines, GL)
Support Workday Payroll module configurations, including earnings, deductions, pay groups, and tax settings
Partner with HRIS and IT to support integrations, data flows, and system enhancements
Participate in system implementations, releases, and testing (UAT, parallel testing, regression testing)
Leverage AI tools and automation (e.g., anomaly detection, audit support, workflow automation, generative AI for reporting or documentation) to streamline payroll processes
Identify and implement opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation, RPA, or AI-enabled workflows
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including audit readiness
Support payroll close activities (month-end, quarter-end, year-end), including tax filings and reconciliations
Collaborate cross-functionally to continuously improve payroll processes and the associate experience
What You Bring (Required Qualifications)
3–5+ years of payroll experience, including employee-facing advisory support
Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and HRIS systems, including reporting and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of payroll compliance (federal, state, local regulations)
Experience working with payroll data, audits, and system-generated reports
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex payroll topics clearly
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
What Sets You Apart (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with Workday Payroll module configuration (earnings/deductions setup, pay groups, tax configurations, calculated fields)
Experience supporting or leading Workday Payroll or HRIS implementations, migrations, or optimizations
AI fluency – hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to:
Automate reporting or documentation
Perform payroll variance analysis or anomaly detection
Improve knowledge management or employee support (e.g., AI-assisted responses)
Familiarity with automation tools (RPA, workflow automation, or low-code tools)
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), or similar certification
Experience partnering with HRIS, Finance Systems, or IT teams on system architecture or integrations
Exposure to data governance, data quality frameworks, or audit controls
