The Vendor Management Office “VMO” Software Asset Management Manager reports to and will work in close partnership with the Director of VMO. The VMO Software Asset Management Manager role will support the Vendor Management Office that oversees, drives and cultivates vendor partnerships. This role requires working with our vendors to ensure that the processes, policies, and procedures are followed. This role is key to developing and cultivating both internal and external partnerships. This requires a keen ability to ensure the success of the Software Asset Management program through strategy backed by strong process discipline. This requires the ability to both manage up and down regarding communications.

Your Responsibilities on the Team 

  • Ensure licenses are used effectively, reallocated when needed, and new licenses are purchased when required.

  • Maintain compliance with software licensing laws.

  • Effectively manage vendor relationships.

  • Keep track of software assets, including configurations, installations, and usage.

  • Propose strategies to optimize/minimize licensing costs.

  • Maintain accurate records of software-related information.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all software-related issues.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive SAM strategy, SAM Tool Selection and SAM Tool Implementation.

  • Develop and improve processes for software lifecycle and demand management.

  • Create metrics and ad-hoc reports.

  • Provide technical support to employees on software strategy and architecture.

  • Lead, mentor, and coach analysts.

  • Creates, drives and operationally executed Software Asset Management strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA and/or JD preferred.

  • 3+ years of SAM experience including standing up a SAM program, preferably in the IT field.

  • Experience with reporting and analyzing data.

  • Experience with sourcing and contracting negotiations.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills preferred, specifically power point and word.

  • Ability and willingness to learn about the business, its strategy, objectives, and core business processes.

  • Able to work under timelines and has a proactive approach to meet those timelines.

Physical & Office/Site Presence Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the incumbent to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
